Home | From a
purely pragmatic viewpoint, the most successful and
proven method of obtaining knowledge about the universe
in which we live is that which we call "the
scientific method." This approach
is basically an inductive one which proceeds by
the gathering of data, the development of hypotheses, and
the testing of these hypotheses by means of
experimentation in order to determine if they
withstand empirical investigation. Strictly speaking, science can never prove anything to be true, but it can, and often does, prove things to be false. We therefore say that science yields knowledge of our external world by falsification of alternate hypotheses. |

The following links are some of my favorite science-related sites.
The Talk.origins archive - information from the perspective of mainstream science supporting the theory of evolution.
Was Darwin Wrong? - a collection of essays, information, and links often critical of Darwinism or aspects of the theory of evolution. A well-rounded examination of differing sides of the issues.
No Answers in Genesis - run by Australian skeptic John Stear, this site lambasts the anti-rational, anti-science nonsense of modern-day "creationists."
For reference purposes, an excellent on-line biology textbook can be found here.
SETI:
the search for extraterrestrial intelligence.
